Part of the KS3 Science curriculum.
KS3 Science Year 9: Inheritance, variation and evolution is a step-by-step online learn guide for Key Stage 3 pupils in Years 7 to 9. It covers DNA, genes and chromosomes, discovering the structure of DNA, inheritance and dominant and recessive alleles, variation within and between species, natural selection, evidence for evolution and extinction and gene banks, then brings it all together with mixed retrieval and unit challenge.
There are 23 short steps of about 15 minutes (roughly 6 hours of learning), each made of bite-size explanations with key words, tables and examples, and every bite-size is followed by an activity you check straight away. Key terms include DNA, Gene, Double helix, X-ray crystallography, Allele, Dominant, Species, Variation, Natural selection, Evolution, Fossil and Fossil record.
