# about us
One platform for learning, from the kitchen table to the whole school.
Teach io is an online learning and assessment platform that brings students, parents, teachers and school leaders together in one place: courses and learn guides, assessments that mark themselves, behaviour and catch-up support, and reports that show everyone what to do next.
Built by school leaders, for school leaders, with developers from Echo IT in Walsall.
// why we started
A wrong answer is the most useful thing a pupil gives you.
It shows exactly what they’ve misunderstood. Too often it ends up as a cross on a page, found weeks later, with no time left to fix it.
So every question we write maps each wrong answer to a specific misconception, followed by a fix-it question that checks the pupil has put it right.
# the golden thread
One answer, followed from the curriculum to the senior team.
Every question on Teach io is tied to a point in your curriculum. When a pupil answers it, that one answer feeds every level of the school, and what leaders learn feeds back into what gets taught next.
01 · curriculum
Intent
Questions are mapped to the curriculum and exam specification, so you know exactly what each one checks.
02 · pupil
Answer and fix
The pupil sees the misconception behind a wrong answer and puts it right with a fix-it question.
03 · teacher
Reteach
Whole-class gaps show what to reteach next lesson, and which pupils need more.
04 · department
Spot patterns
Heads of department see the gaps that persist across classes and adjust the scheme of work.
05 · leaders
Impact
SLT and governors see gaps and progress over time: evidence of what the curriculum is achieving.
↺ and back again: what leaders learn shapes what is taught next.
# what we believe
Assessment should change what happens next lesson.
01
Find the gap, then act on it
A score on its own changes nothing. Every result points to a reteach, a next step or an intervention.
02
Feedback pupils can use
Pupils see what they got wrong, why, and what to do about it, while the lesson is still fresh.
03
Less marking, more teaching
Assessments mark themselves, so teachers spend their time on the pupils who need them.
04
Built for every pupil
We design with SEND, inclusion and alternative provision in mind, so the question tests the learning, not the reading.
# what we make
One platform, from the classroom to the senior team.
Assessment
Online assessments with mixed question types and automatic marking. Pupil feedback, whole-class reteach for teachers, department views and SLT reports on gaps and progress.
Courses and learn guides
GCSE Computer Science for AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Eduqas, plus KS3 and primary computing, with an assessment for every topic.
Reflect & Reset
A reflection and awareness course for pupils who keep getting it wrong in school, so a sanction becomes a chance to change.
Catch-up
Missed lessons set and tracked, so absence doesn’t quietly turn into a gap in learning.
# who we are
Teachers who build software, and developers who work with schools.
Everything on Teach io is written and tested in a working secondary school before it reaches yours. If it doesn’t save a teacher time or help a pupil learn, it doesn’t ship.
Built by school leaders, for school leaders
Serving school leaders and teachers
Teach io is designed by people who still teach and lead in schools every day. We built the assessment, reporting and follow-up we wanted in our own classrooms and leadership meetings.
