Part of the KS3 English curriculum.
KS3 English Year 9: Victorian Voices: Language Then and Now is a step-by-step online learn guide for Key Stage 3 pupils in Years 7 to 9. It covers reading the 19th century: vocabulary, syntax and context, mayhew's London: reporting the voices of the poor, dickens's Night Walks: perspective and personification, then and now: how English has changed, summarising and synthesising across two texts, comparing viewpoints and methods across centuries and writing a comparative paragraph with precise terminology, then brings it all together with mixed retrieval and unit challenge.
There are 23 short steps of about 15 minutes (roughly 6 hours of learning), each made of bite-size explanations with key words, tables and examples, and every bite-size is followed by an activity you check straight away. Key terms include Syntax, Subordinate clause, Journalism, Direct speech, Personification, Perspective, Semantic change, Archaic, Summary, Synthesis, Viewpoint and Tone.
