KS3 Computing Year 7: Introduction to Computing and Skill Building is a step-by-step online learn guide for Key Stage 3 pupils in Years 7 to 9. It covers baseline: what do you already know?, logging on safely: accounts and strong passwords, files and folders: saving and organising your work, email and online communication at school, word processing skills, presentation skills: designing for an audience and using technology responsibly: copyright and acceptable use, then brings it all together with mixed retrieval and unit challenge.
There are 23 short steps of about 15 minutes (roughly 6 hours of learning), each made of bite-size explanations with key words, tables and examples, and every bite-size is followed by an activity you check straight away. Key terms include Baseline, Algorithm, Username, Password, File, Folder, Subject line, CC, Formatting, Style, Slide and Speaker notes.
